YOU ARE NOT LOST, YOU ARE JUST BECOMING

Sometimes You Are Not Lost, You Are Just Becoming Someone Newhttps://okunerere.blogspot.com/2023/09/life-is-ephemeral-nobody-makes-it-here.html

There are seasons in life when you don't recognize yourself anymore.

The things that once excited you no longer do. The people you once felt close to may no longer feel like home. The plans you were certain about suddenly seem unclear.

You begin to wonder:

What am I doing with my life?

Maybe you feel behind.

Maybe you feel confused.

Maybe everyone around you seems to know where they are going while you are standing still, trying to understand what happened to the person you used to be.

But what if you are not lost?

What if you are simply becoming someone new?

Sometimes Growth Feels Like Losing Yourself

We often imagine growth as something beautiful.

We picture becoming stronger, wiser, happier, and more confident.

What we don't talk about enough is the uncomfortable part.

Growth can make you question almost everything.

You may outgrow conversations that once entertained you. You may stop accepting things you once tolerated. You may begin setting boundaries where you previously remained silent.

You may even disappoint people because the version of you they knew is changing.

And that can feel like loss.

But not every loss means something has gone wrong.

Sometimes, losing an old version of yourself is part of finding a new one.

You Are Allowed to Change

You are not required to remain the person you were five years ago.

You are allowed to change your mind.

You are allowed to change your goals.

You are allowed to discover that something you once wanted is no longer what you need.

You are allowed to become quieter.

You are allowed to become more intentional about who you give your time to.

You are allowed to say no.

You are allowed to choose peace over proving yourself.

Growth means accepting that life is not a finished story.

You are still being written.

The People Around You May Not Understand

One of the hardest parts of becoming someone new is realizing that not everyone will understand the changes happening inside you.

Some people knew the old you.

They became comfortable with your availability, your silence, your sacrifices, or the way you always made room for them.

When you begin changing, they may ask:

"What happened to you?"

Sometimes the honest answer is:

"I finally started listening to myself."

That doesn't mean everyone who questions your growth is against you.

Some people simply need time to understand.

Others may prefer the version of you that required less from them.

Learning the difference is part of growing up.

You Don't Have to Have Everything Figured Out

There is enormous pressure to have life figured out.

By a certain age, you are expected to know what career you want, who you want to become, where you want to live, who you want to love, and what your future should look like.

But human beings don't develop according to a timetable.

Sometimes you need to walk through uncertainty before you discover clarity.

Sometimes the answer doesn't appear until you take the first step.

You don't need to know the entire road.

You only need enough courage to take the next step.

Stop Comparing Your Chapter to Someone Else's

Social media can make this especially difficult.

You see someone getting married.

Someone buying a house.

Someone starting a business.

Someone travelling.

Someone announcing a promotion.

Someone seemingly becoming everything you wish you could become.

And suddenly your own life feels small.

But you are looking at their visible chapter while living inside your invisible one.

You don't know their doubts.

You don't know their private struggles.

You don't know what they sacrificed to get where they are.

And they don't know yours.

Your life is not late because someone else arrived somewhere before you.

There is no universal timetable for becoming.

Becoming Can Be Quiet

Not all growth is dramatic.

Sometimes growth looks like walking away from an argument.

Sometimes it looks like apologizing.

Sometimes it looks like finally asking for help.

Sometimes it looks like getting out of bed when you don't feel motivated.

Sometimes it looks like refusing to return to something that repeatedly hurt you.

Sometimes growth is simply realizing:

"I don't want to live like this anymore."

That realization can become the beginning of a completely different life.

Give Yourself Permission to Be in Between

There is a strange space between who you were and who you are becoming.

You may not feel comfortable there.

The old identity doesn't fit anymore, but the new one hasn't fully formed.

This is the in-between.

It can feel lonely.

It can feel uncertain.

It can feel like nothing is happening.

But something is happening.

You are learning.

You are questioning.

You are releasing.

You are rebuilding.

You are becoming.

Don't rush through that process simply because uncertainty makes you uncomfortable.

Some of the most important changes in our lives happen quietly.

You May Not Be Lost After All

Maybe you are not lost.

Maybe you are simply outgrowing an old life.

Maybe the confusion you're experiencing is not the absence of direction but the beginning of a new one.

Maybe the version of you that once survived by pleasing everyone is learning how to live honestly.

Maybe the person who spent years looking for approval is finally learning to trust themselves.

Maybe the life you imagined for yourself is changing because you are changing.

And maybe that's okay.

You don't have to have every answer today.

You don't have to know exactly who you will become.

Keep walking.

Keep learning.

Keep questioning.

Keep becoming.

One day, you may look back at this confusing season and realize that you weren't lost at all.

You were becoming someone you had never met before.

A quiet reminder

If you're in a season where nothing seems clear, don't be too hard on yourself.

You are allowed to be unfinished.

You are allowed to change.

You are allowed to begin again.

And you are allowed to take your time becoming.

Hello love. Hello hope. A new horizon.
